Questions and Answers
Below we have collected some common questions and answers that hopefully answer what you're wondering about.
We also have a separate page with instructional videos that you're welcome to check out, and we are of course always ready to answer questions you may have via email.
Getting started
If I'm missing a feature in Visihelp, what can I do about it?
We love getting feedback from our users, and especially suggestions for improvements. We can't guarantee that we can meet absolutely everyone's needs 100%, but we go a long way to ensure that you get a solution that works for you. If you have an idea or a suggestion, we would very much like you to contact us to see if it's something we can do for you.
Do you need to be good with computers to use Visihelp?
No, you don't need to be tech-savvy to use the Visihelp system. Everything comes ready out-of-the-box with default settings. This works as a good starting point for most people, so it's up and running after just a few minutes.
At the same time, the system has incredibly many possibilities. For those with special wishes and needs, it's possible to tailor solutions that should cover most things.
There are many planners out there. What makes Visihelp different?
Mainly two things:
With us, you don’t need to buy expensive, special-purpose hardware to use the system. We provide a free app for Android and iOS, and you can also use the service directly in a web browser. That means you usually don’t need to purchase any new equipment—chances are you already have a phone, tablet, or screen you can use.
Visihelp gives you an overview without lots of menus, buttons, and confusing choices. We don’t think you should have to learn something complicated to do something simple. Activities are entered by a caregiver (or by the user, if desired) in a dedicated web interface, and then shown on one or more screens—without the person receiving the information having to tap around more than necessary. We strongly believe in “less is more”.
Subscription and accounts
Is there a commitment period on the subscription?
There is no commitment period on Visihelp. You can cancel the agreement at any time, and you keep access to the system until the prepaid agreement period has expired. This applies to both monthly and annual agreements.
What if we have several family members who want to use Visihelp?
No problem. You can add multiple users in the system, and in the calendar you can easily choose which user you are editing activities for—without having to log out and back in.
Which age groups is Visihelp intended for?
If you’re old enough—or young enough—to look at a screen, you’re in the right age group for Visihelp. You can choose to display an activity as a symbol/image only, as text only, or as a combination of both.
Security and privacy
How safe is it to enter personal data and images in Visihelp?
Very safe! All data you upload is encrypted on our servers and is not available to anyone other than you and those you choose to grant access to. You can trust that everything you add—text, activities, and images—stays “for your eyes only”.
I lost my phone. What can I do to make sure no one else can see my Visihelp data?
When you log in to the calendar system in your browser, there is a menu where you can manage devices that are allowed to use the system. There you can remove access just as easily as you granted it. If you remove/block a device, it loses access immediately.
Use cases
Is Visihelp only intended for people with neurodevelopmental disorders?
Not at all. People with neurodevelopmental disorders will often benefit greatly from Visihelp, but there are many other situations where the system can be extremely helpful.
Do you have parents or grandparents who need reminders and overview in everyday life? They can have a phone or tablet at home showing the information you want, while you can add and edit activities and reminders from your own home.
Can Visihelp be used in school settings?
Absolutely. A child can have a screen at school or bring a tablet. The screen can be configured to only show certain time intervals in the day/week plan, so people at school can’t see what happens outside school hours.
If a teacher is set up as a caregiver in the calendar, you can also restrict them to only add or edit activities that take place during school hours.
Is the system only available in Norwegian?
Visihelp will be available in multiple languages. Currently it is available in Norwegian and English, and more languages will be added over time.
If you choose Norwegian, for example, the calendar and menus will be in Norwegian. The same applies to search terms when you look for pictograms and symbols.
You enter the text that is shown on the user’s screens yourself. That means you are free to use any language—even if we haven’t translated the interface to it yet.
Which symbol libraries do you use?
We use symbols from two different libraries. The largest library is provided by Tobii Dynavox, while the other is from Mulberry Symbols.
